We are an ambitious, dynamic and forward-thinking theatre company exploring the interplay between different media, genres and forms to push at the boundaries of what is possible onstage and beyond…

We innovate in form and content to create new, original work that makes visible the invisible, explores alternative perspectives, and asks urgent social questions.

We create socially and environmentally conscious theatrical experiences that ask urgent questions about our world and our place within it.

Liminal Stage Productions (formerly REND Productions) launched in 2015 with a gutsy, critically-acclaimed "exhilarating and provoking" (The Stage) Howard Barker Double Bill at Arcola Theatre. This gritty Double Bill comprised the London premiere of Howard Barker’s The Twelfth Battle of Isonzo, featuring the voice of celebrated NT and RSC actor Nicholas Le Prevost in a groundbreaking binaural sound design and immersive blackout plunging spectators into the sensory experience of the two blind characters, paired with a timely revival of Judith starring acclaimed actress Catherine Cusack. This £34,000 ACE GFTA-funded project provided Arcola Theatre’s first ever touch tour and audio-described performance for blind and partially-sighted audiences, as well as a unique participatory workshop for blind and partially-sighted people exploring barriers to theatre for people with disabilities.

In 2016, we presented the transfer of Grey Man by Lulu Raczka from its site-specific premiere in an iconic 1880s Shoreditch warehouse to Olivier Award-winning "new writing powerhouse" Theatre503. Responding to The Stage's review, which praised the piece as "a gorgeous, haunting monologue" and said that "the full-length version should be commissioned at once", we are currently working to develop a new version of this play, exploring how the audience's literal perspective might alter their perception of the narrative...

In 2017, we co-produced the South West tour of Judith by Howard Barker with Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts. Judith returned to Arcola for a week before going on a small-scale national tour to venues including the Sherling Studio at Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts, and the Mercury, Colchester.

This year, we are focusing on the development of a number of new partnerships - for example, with Royal Holloway University London - that will enable us to commission and deliver two major new projects over the coming three years. We are fascinated by the interplay between different forms, media and genres, and are constantly committed to pushing the boundaries of what constitutes live stage performance, and will be launching a website soon to help promote our artistic projects...
